(By Faye Casey) A Stafford-based hair salon has launched a groundbreaking initiative on the Internet so customers can 'look before they book'.
The Francesco Group salon on Church Lane has installed a web cam so visitors can check out the hairdressing studio before they go for the chop.
It is believed the salon is the first one to go live, and if the scheme proves a success it is set to be introduced across all 26 Midlands salons.
Minute-by-minute images are transmitted to the Francesco Group site, and if customers click on the Church Lane link they can access the web cam.
As well as watching hairdressers in action, visitors can take a virtual tour of the salon and contact it direct if they have any queries.
The idea was the brainchild of salon directors Kerry and Judy O'Sullivan, and the web cam has been placed on a tracker pod so potential clients can move it around the salon from the comfort of their own home.
"Kerry and Judy believe that the public will be interested in seeing the real side of hairdressing, and those potential clients can 'look before they book' gaining a real feel for the Francesco Group brand including the quality of hairdressing and customer service available at the salon," said a spokesman.
"The images will feature both cutting, colour and perm specialists with consenting clients throughout the day and is supported by general information on prices and team profiles."
