Juniper Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JUNI) ("Juniper"), a diversified holding company with operations in the entertainment, healthcare and information technologies sectors announced today that its Juniper Internet Communications, Inc. subsidiary (JINI) has been selected by Network Access Solutions (NAS) to provide national DSL Installation services for its Ratner Companies', Hair Cuttery, Bubbles Hair Salon for Men and Women, and Salon Cielo Hair Salons in malls and shopping centers throughout the United States.
NAS is one of the nation's leading broadband solutions providers for businesses. Founded in 1995, the company currently provides an expansive portfolio of broadband networking services in the Verizon region including Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service. The Verizon region is home to 35% of the world's data communications traffic and the densest collection of businesses in the U.S.
NAS gives customers access to a robust broadband services "bundle" which includes network consulting, integration, management, security services and DSL. The NAS network supports traditional and packet-based services such as ATM, frame relay, and IP. NAS' hallmark broadband service - CopperNet(R) - provides high-speed, "always on" local, metropolitan and wide-area connectivity. CopperNet is a seamless, cost-effective replacement for traditional T-1 and ISDN lines, and can deliver significant savings to businesses on local facilities expenses.
Alan R. Andrus, JINI's President, stated that this program is the result of our relationship with NAS for providing broadband installation and integration services for NAS DSL service customers. Mr. Andrus noted that this nationwide service was initiated as a result of expanded JINI capabilities to implement broadband and DSL services throughout the United States. JINI is now able to provide support for its major accounts through a nationwide network of DSL support locations. According to Mr. Andrus, JINI's selection for this program was due to JINI's continuing demonstration of high levels of DSL installation services performance for NAS and its DSL service customers.
When Jake Heinz, NAS Director of Installations Services was asked how JINI compares to other outsourced installations services providers, Mr. Heinz said that "JINI was simply the best DSL implementation organization that they had ever dealt with". Mr. Andrus said that this program would begin with the conversion of several hundred Hair Cuttery, Bubbles Hair Salon, and Salon Cielo Hair Salons locations in the next month or so, and continue throughout the next quarter.
